2015 Drive, Chip & Putt Right Around the Corner

The Minnesota Section PGA is hosting free local and regional qualifiers for juniors in the annual Drive, Chip, & Putt with the chance to advance to the 2016 Drive, Chip, & Putt Championship. The competition is broken into four different divisions by age and also by gender. Boys and girls will compete in the age divisions of 7-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15 years old. The participants must be no younger than 7 and no older than 15 by the final championship on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016. The regional champions for boys and girls from each of the four divisions will advance to the finals that are held at Augusta National the Sunday before the 2016 Masters Tournament. The regional qualifer, following the local and sub-regional qualifiers, will be at Hazeltine National Golf Club on Saturday, September 12th.

The competition entails each competitor getting three putts, three chips, and three drives trying to earn the most points in each category. The person(s) with the highest overall score and the winner of the three individual skills will be awarded in the competition. From each local qualifier, the top three point earners in each boys and girls division will advance to sub-regional qualifying. Then, the top two point earners in the boys and girls divisions will move on to the regional qualifier at Hazeltine; where the champion of each boys and girls division at the regional qualifier will travel to Augusta National for the championship final. This is a great way for junior golfers to get involved and an opportunity to compete at Augusta National before the Masters Tournament!
