Best Ball Position

Golf Tips for Better Contact by Improving Ball Position

In a golf swing, we move our weight from back foot to front foot, which means we should make contact with the ball at the lowest point in our swing, under our center of gravity. This point occurs a little bit forward of center, so place the ball a little bit closer to your front foot than your back foot. From this position, you will be able to point your shoulders toward the target, position your weight toward your heels, and complete a swing from the inside of the golf ball.

In the video below, watch Minnesota PGA Professional Jim Manthis demonstrate this golf tip.

The Minnesota Section PGA consists of PGA Professionals who are experts in the game and business of golf. Our mission is to promote the enjoyment and involvement of the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals, the golf industry, people who play golf or would like to start playing golf. PGA Section Offices oversee the 41 geographic regions throughout the United States and provide the grass-roots network for the nation’s 25 million amateur golfers and with the PGA’s 27,000 members.
