Fitness to Improve Your Golf Game

The lower body is key in maximizing power in your golf swing. Flexibility and strength in your legs allows for a more efficient unwinding motion, which will result in more distance and greater accuracy. There are many things that you can do to increase strength in your legs, but few are as simple as this exercise that can be done anywhere—even on the first tee!

  • Grab a club in one hand
  • Take a large step forward to dip into a lunge
  • Make sure you step so that your foot is directly beneath your knee
  • Keep your back straight and push your hips forward to maximize stretch
  • Repeat 10-20 times

Minnesota PGA Professional Kathy Swanson demonstrates this exercise in the video below.
