Golf Drill: How To Hit a Basic Chip Shot

How to Hit a Basic Chip Shot

Most of us have had plenty of experience “throwing shots away” around the green. Being able to master parts of the short game like chipping will help any golfer save a few strokes. Even if you’re not hitting every green in regulation, getting up and down never hurt anyone!

  • Narrow your stance and stand closer to the ball
  • Slightly open your stance so that your arms can freely swing through
  • Remember to keep your non-dominant arm completely stationary-
  • Lean your weight forward, club aimed at the target
  • Swing through with your dominant arm and shoulder

Minnesota PGA Professional Jim Manthis demonstrates this drill in the video below.

The Minnesota Section PGA consists of PGA Professionals who are experts in the game and business of golf.
