Golf Tip: How to Hit a Basic Pitch Shot?

December 21, 2012

How to Hit a Basic Pitch Shot

A great pitch is one of those shots that you can always execute perfectly in your head, but when it comes down to the real thing it never quite seems to work out. The swing for a pitch shot is very similar to that of a chip shot. It requires a steady left wrist that doesn’t break down at impact. There are two differences between a pitching swing and a chipping swing. First, the pitching swing is a little bit longer. Second, the stance is a little wider. Also, make sure to hinge your wrists up and down, not side-to-side, as a side-to-side hinge will cause you to chunk or scoop it.
