Matt Cook

What was your motivation to become a PGA Professional?

I was introduced to the game of golf at an early age and immediately became “hooked” on the game. It was this passion that led me to a career in golf. I knew that I wanted to introduce others to golf so that they might enjoy also enjoy this great game.

How do you believe you are enhancing the game of golf?

At Rose Creek, we have implemented several of the PGA’s “Grow the Game” initiatives including, Get Golf Ready, Tee it Forward, and Family Golf. We also have two instructors including myself that teach private lessons to all levels of players. We offer league activities to men, women, juniors, seniors, and couples and host a number of corporate event and tournaments. Season passes are available to all players at a very competitive price and discounts are extended to juniors, college students, and seniors.

What was your greatest moment in golf?

I’ve had several “greatest moments” in golf. I really enjoy anytime I have the opportunity to play golf with my family, friends, and staff. It is these moments that have been some of the most memorable experiences.

Who has had the greatest impact on your career?

Russ Nelson (Village Green PGA Head Professional) and Greg McCullough (Edgewood PGA Head Professional). Both of these individuals extended me an invitation to join their staff at one point in my career and I was very fortunate to learn a great deal of knowledge from both of these great PGA Professionals. I’ve also been fortunate to have so many other great PGA Professionals within our Dakota Chapter that I’ve had the opportunity to learn and exchange ideas.

When you are not golfing, how do you like to spend your day?

Spending time with family, watching the numerous activities my four children participate in and bow hunting.

If you could play any course in the world, which one and who would you play with?

I would have loved to play with Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player in their prime. As long as I’m playing with these three amazing players I don’t care what course we play!

Congratulations Matt on all your accomplishments over the years!
