Get to know our Minnesota PGA Assistant Board Members

Each month, we’re putting a much-deserved spotlight on our Minnesota PGA Section Assistant’s Chapter Board Members. The Minnesota PGA board consists of 7 members including the Executive Officers.

Our profile this month is: Phillip Olson

Phillip currently sits on the Assistant’s Chapter Board of Directors. He is currently the 1st Assistant Professional at Bearpath Golf & Country Club. Phillip’s accomplishments include Ferris State University Professional Golf Management Alumni Association Board President, Golf World Business’ Top 100 Golf Shops Award Winner at Bearpath Golf & Country Club for 8 years, and Taylor Made/Adidas Home Pro Staff member. He was also a competitor in the 2000 AAU Junior Olympic Games for golf and a competitor in the 2007 Minnesota State Open.

What year did you become a PGA Professional?

I started working as a Professional in December 2004 and got a PGA membership in May 2007.

What was your motivation?

My passion for the game, the business, and being able to go to work everyday and love it!

How do you believe you are enhancing the game of golf?

I believe I am growing the game through hosting junior golf programs, women’s leagues, family golf nights, and private & group instruction.

What is your greatest moment in golf?

My greatest moment was qualifying and playing in the 2007 Minnesota State Open.

Who has had the greatest impact on your career?

My boss, the Head Golf Professional at Bearpath Golf & Country Club, Kevin Cashman.

When you are not golfing, how do you like to spend your day?

I enjoy traveling, playing cards, watching Minnesota sports, and being with family and friends.

If you could play any course in the world, which one and who would you play with?

I would play at Augusta National  with my three best friends!
