Get to know our Minnesota PGA Assistant Board Members

Each month, we’re putting a much-deserved spotlight on our Minnesota PGA Section Assistant’s Chapter Board Members. The Minnesota PGA board consists of 7 members including the Executive Officers.

Our profile this month is: Ryan Bakken

Ryan currently sits on the Assistant’s Chapter Board of Directors. He is currently an Assistant Professional at Pheasant Acres GC . Ryan’s accomplishments include winning two Assistant event’s in 2009, he believes this to be the best season of his golf career and that there are a lot of great players in Minnesota Section so he was pretty proud to beat them for just one day!

What year did you become a PGA Professional?

What was your motivation?

I’ve always wanted to be around the game. I love the passion that people have for the game and the relationships that it builds.

How do you believe you are enhancing the game of golf?

I was the director for the 2nd Annual Winter Golf Summit at Life Time Fitness. The clinic was free for participants and taught them the connections between golf, fitness, and a healthy way of life.

What is your greatest moment in golf?

Shooting 29 (-7) on the front nine of Pheasant Arces. The round included my first ever hole-in-one!

Who has had the greatest impact on your career?

I have been privileged to work for some great golf professionals that have taught me a lot about the game and the business of golf. Thanks to Scott Rindahl, Jeff Gorman, and Tom Wiebusch!

When you are not golfing, how do you like to spend your day?

I am a sports nut. I love March Madness, the NFL, and MLB. I also like to travel as much as possible and do a little cooking on the side.

If you could play any course in the world, which one and who would you play with?

It would have to be Augusta National with Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones, and Tiger Woods.

Thank you Phillip for all you’ve done for the Minnesota PGA Section over the years.
