Golf Gifts to Put Under the Christmas Tree

Do you have a golfer on your list who is tough to buy for? There are so many different great golf options out there, from new equipment, to lessons from a PGA pro, to gift certificates from a Minnesota course, or even a copy of Caddyshack on DVD or Blu-ray. But what else is out there for the golfer who seems to have everything? We asked some of our Section members for creative golf gifts to put under the Christmas tree.

Hot Gifts

Holiday golf giftsMike Barge at Hazeltine reports their Ryder Cup merchandise is very popular – since it’s the only place in the world to buy some of it. The Golf Shop in the new clubhouse is open to the public, so take a trip out to Chaska to visit the home of the 2016 event, and stock up on some great logo merchandise. Items are available at all price points and include shirts, jackets, hats, golf balls, markers, bags and more.

Hot Clubs

2009 Teacher of the Year Dee Forsberg McCullagh has several suggestions for golfer gifts. Dee reports, “The drivers released this past summer are game changers. The Ping G30 added an average of 15 yards to my tee shot.” She also likes GPS based range finders and says the new iPhone 6 has incredible slow motion recording for swing analysis – 240 frames per second!

Teaching Aid

Eden Prairie H.S. Golf Coach Ty Armstrong admits he is a bit biased (he also works at GolfTec), but GolfTEC has holiday improvement packages available starting at $199. They have five locations throughout the metro area (Bunker Hills, Eden Prairie, Edina, Minnetonka and Roseville). He also recommends a golf getaway as a good surprise present for that tough to please golfer.

Gift Card

Finally, Former Section President Kathy Swanson says the best gift you can get a golfer is our own Minnesota PGA Golf Card. “Great value for any golfer,” she reports, “and you support Junior Golf within Minnesota.” Another idea: an all- season pass at the player’s favorite range. They aren’t very expensive, yet last all golf season long.

Happy shopping!
