Play Golf Minnesota Week!

It’s springtime and golfers are anxious to get back on the course. With hopefully the cold temperatures and snow behind us, the golf season has arrived. The 10th annual Play Golf Minnesota Week, also known as the Minnesota “Golf Opener,” is just around the corner. Golf facilities and resorts statewide as well as in the Dakotas will welcome golfers with special offers during Play Golf Minnesota Week, Saturday, April 30, to Sunday, May 8. Hosted by the Minnesota Section PGA and the Minnesota Golf Association, participating courses will offer golfers of all ages and skill levels incentives to get out and play.

“Our main objective is to promote the game of golf and to get people playing,” said Jon Tollette, Minnesota Section PGA executive director. “Anyone interested in learning the game or those getting back into golf can find plenty of information, instruction and great deals during Play Golf Minnesota Week. This is a great time to get out and play.”

Golfers will have the opportunity to take advantage of many special offers during Play Golf Minnesota Week. This year’s highlights include free lessons at participating golf facilities, and special events, including:

Participating courses may host a variety of events, clinics, and promotions, such as:
• Discounted green fees
• Free or discounted golf lessons and club fittings
• Charity/fundraising events
• Family promotions
• Get Golf Ready programs

“Our members are enthusiastic about the early start to the golf season, and the camaraderie of once again teeing it up with friends and family,” said Tom Ryan, executive director of the Minnesota Golf Association. “We encourage all golfers to get out and enjoy the social, healthful and quality-of-life benefits that golfers love.”

Participating facilities will feature special promotions or events each day. Golfers are encouraged to visit to see which of their favorite courses are participating and to find information on themes, events, specials and/or giveaways.

The Minnesota Section PGA consists of PGA Professionals who are experts in the game and business of golf. Our mission is to promote the enjoyment and involvement of the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals, the golf industry, people who play golf or would like to start playing golf. PGA Section Offices oversee the 41 geographic regions throughout the United States and provide the grass-roots network for the nation’s 25 million amateur golfers and with the PGA’s 27,000 members.
