May 3, 2016

Get to know your Section Professionals:
Throughout the year, we will be profiling new Section Members as well as those who have made employment changes.

joshua luehmannMeet Minnesota Section Member Josh Luehmann from Waconia, MN. Josh is now the Head Golf Professional at Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista, MN. He was formerly an Assistant Golf Professional at Hazeltine National Golf Club where he spent almost two years.

What year did you become a professional?
I got started in the golf business in 2003 right out of college. I had worked at the local municipal golf course through high school and college. I started outside picking the range and worked my way into the Golf Shop. I started as an assistant at the same golf course not knowing if I would like the golf business or not. Now almost 13 years later I could not be more happy with my decision to get into the golf business.

What are you most looking forward to at your new role and facility?
I am looking forward to meeting the members and helping make Burl Oaks even better than it already is.

How are you growing the game of golf?
I am continuing to look at ways to make golf fun and inviting for new golfers and junior golfers. I am hoping we can expand our Junior Golf Program at Burl Oaks and offer a program for kids who are only five or six years old.

Outside the game of golf, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I have twin three-year-old boys, so right now the majority of my time away from work is spent chasing them around.

What are you most excited about with the Ryder Cup coming to Minnesota?
Having spent the last two seasons at Hazeltine, I am excited to see how different the golf course will play for the Ryder Cup and how the players play the golf course.
