Hazeltine Hosts Charity Pro-Am Benefiting PGA of America’s Minnesota Section PGA & PGA REACH Program

August 2, 2016

Hazeltine National Golf Club, despite furious efforts to prepare for the biggest golf spectacle the state of Minnesota has ever seen, hosted the PGA REACH Charity Pro-Am on Monday, August 1st. PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America, seeks to improve and advance opportunities for youth from all backgrounds to have access to the game of golf, while ensuring that cost doesn’t prohibit them from entering the sport.

This Pro-Am offered golfers the opportunity to tee it up at Hazeltine National Golf Club on the last day golfers can play the course; prior to hosting the 2016 Ryder Cup. Most importantly, it allowed golfers to support the Minnesota Section PGA Foundation and its initiatives for growing the game among youth, all while playing a championship course.

The Pro-Am was an 18-hole, Stableford five some team competition with each participant playing his or her own ball. Each group/pairing of participants was placed with one of our local PGA Professionals.

The event was a huge success in raising money for PGA of America’s PGA REACH program and the Minnesota Section PGA’s local youth, military and diversity/inclusion player development programs.
