The criterion for this award is the overall performance as a golf professional, service to the Section and Association, leadership ability, image and ability to inspire and promotion/growth of the game.

Cairns, the First Assistant at Somerset since the Spring of 1998, holds a lot of responsibility in different aspects of the day-to-day operations. He is in charge of merchandising and all related inventory and financial controls, tournament programming featuring both men’s and women’s golf activities, the junior golf program and putting group. Also on his task list was the supervision of golf shop staff, the caddie program and running the club fitting program.

He credits his success to Dave DuSchane, his Head Golf Professional and mentor at Somerset.

“Dave [DuSchane] has always allowed me to demonstrate that I am capable of performing the many duties required of a golf professional,” said Cairns. “It is special to have a boss that is a wonderful mentor and a friend.”

Congratulations and thank you for your services to the Section, Pat.
