Kellie Hoiness Named 2016 Private Facility Promoter of the Year

October 27, 2016

Kellie Hoiness of The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, Minn. is the 2016 Private Facility Promoter of the Year in the Minnesota Section. The Facility Promoter of the Year Award praises a PGA Professional for outstanding contributions to their facility. These contributions include golf programs offered, tournament operations, merchandising, rules, promotion and facility history.

The recipient of this award has displayed excellence in the following areas: level of service to his or her Facility, Section and Association, leadership ability, contributions to building and growing golf, involvement in civic activities within the community and charitable causes and overall integrity and character.

Kellie has been the Head Golf Professional at The Minikahda Club for the past 3 years, after serving as an Assistant Professional the previous 11 years. The club hosts 25,000 rounds each year and events and programs for all golfers—women, juniors and men. Under her lead, the club began a new Tuesday afternoon men’s league which grew to 200 members in just its second season. She oversees the junior golf program of over 175 junior golfers and continues to embrace the 3-hole, 9-hole and 18-hole ladies’ leagues.

“It’s important to know that your membership is continuing to evolve and the average age changes,” said Hoiness. “It is crucial to be aware of what programs they are looking for and identifying the needs.”

She excels in tournament operations and execution. Members comment on how smooth and well orchestrated the invitationals, guest days and other member events are run. Not only that, she is a part of the committee that’s hosting the USGA Senior Amateur Championship in 2017.

Merchandising is another aspect of the operation that she manages with great success. The shop is fully stocked with quality merchandise that is offered to membership at discounted pricing. She has an impressive existing rapport with the Minnesota sales representatives and takes advantage of the many opportunities they provide whether it be demo days, trunk shows, club fittings, ball fittings and more.

Her involvement doesn’t start and stop with her facility, she served on the Section Tournament Committee for 10 years and was Assistants’ Chapter President for three years. Shes spends countless hours volunteering at the Children’s Hospital and raises money through the Baby Steps 3K walk, which has special meaning to her.

“As most of you know, I had a life changing experience with my girls being born 15 weeks early and living in the hospital for 4 months changed my outlook on life. Since then, I have dedicated a lot of my time outside of the club to the Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House,” she stressed at the Awards Banquet at Bunker Hills Golf Course this past Monday.

It is obvious that Kellie was a very worthy recipient for this award through all her hard work and dedication to her facility, Section and community.

Congratulations and thank you for your services to the Section, Kellie.
