Brad Pluth Named 2016 Player Development Award Recipient

November 4, 2016

Brad Pluth of Golf Achievement is the 2016 Player Development Award recipient. The Player Development Award is designed to recognize a PGA Professional for extraordinary contributions and achievements in the area of player development. This award considers the PGA Professional’s growth of the game leadership commitment at both the Section and National levels in addition to the impact made in his or her community.

The foundation for determining the Player Development Award recipient is as follows: Section and National leadership in the realm of player development, diversity and success of programs conducted, number of consumers/member attendance in the programs, and quality/practicality of Best Practice ideas.

Pluth has experience coaching golfers of all ages and abilities, consistently progressing them to achieve their goals. His coaching philosophy focuses on developing golfers by learning the fundamentals; he gets them on the course for the first time, to play in their first tournament, win their first tournament, and hopefully earn a college scholarship by the end of the process.

“I love to play, so when I’m out on the course, I just try to share my passion,” Pluth stressed. “I love doing playing lessons, and getting them [beginners] exposed whether it’s two holes or three holes.”

He is dedicated to teaching the whole game. Brad helps golfers find their comfort zone with their swing, on-course strategy and scoring mindset through purposeful practice sessions. For example, read about his Progressive Golf System that helps new golfers slowly challenge themselves with benchmarks based on their capabilities and how fast they can improve.

When asked about how he gets a new player hooked, he replied, “as soon as they hit that first good shot; they’re hooked.”

“It’s even more rewarding to see someone have that first experience,” added Pluth.

His work in the community does not go unnoticed either. Brad has gone to over 40 schools to introduce youth, over 8,000 kids, to the game of golf with SNAG (Starting New At Golf) equipment and hosts an after school program providing all the equipment for juniors. He serves as the U.S. Kids Local Tour Director with 96 members and has organized 40 events over the past three years with over 1,500 competitive rounds.

Recently, Pluth was named to Golf Digest’s “Best Young Teachers In America 2016,” adding to his already impressive resume in the Section.

Dedicated to the development of youth and the sport in general, we are honored to have Brad as a part of the Section; he is an admirable recipient of this award.

Congratulations and thank you for your services to the Section, Brad.
